Dwarf Fothergilla

Dwarf Fothergilla

Dwarf Fothergilla (Fothergilla gardenii), sometimes known by the common name witch alder, has a wide native range in the coastal plain of the Southeast United States, from North Carolina to Florida and west to Mississippi and Tennessee. With its compact size, this shrub packs a powerful combination of flowers and foliage just about anywhere in your yard. it pairs particularly well with azaleas and rhododendrons. It grows prefers moist, slightly acidic, organically rich, well-drained soils in full sun to partial or dappled shade. While the flower display and fall color are often best in full sun, the shrub benefits from some afternoon shade. This adaptable plant will tolerate wet soils and compaction, yet is also drought tolerant.

For the most blooms, keep Dwarf Fothergilla moist and give it as much sunshine as possible!

Q. What does 'potless plug' mean?

A. Thanks for asking! We're working to lower our use of plastic in our supply chain, the potless product for sale on this page is a part of this effort. When you buy a potless product, expect a well rooted plant whose root ball is contained in a bag rather than a plastic pot and a bag.
